im doing it. the nutritionist has been helping keep me in check, and the working out has been awesome, and all the training and intervals has led to this. My first 5k! :) Now I am not a runner, never have been, BUT I have been working on getting my mile time lower and lower. I am at 14 min miles. Not great, but being as I hadnt run since middle school, you have to start someplace. So this 5k is called a resolution run. And It's my first, and will kick off this new year great because I am doing a triathalon in june. I have swimming down pat, just have to get running better, and start working on biking. I am exciting. And I feel like there will be many more 5k's and it would be awesome to actually place in one of them this year. All my thanks goes to Kari for helping me out! And being an inspiration to me!!

The nutritonist thing has been going well, I have been sticking with eating more and more fruit, and veggies! I am kinda in need of a variety of veggies, but I have a hard time unless I buy a veggie tray. But I believe that just changing those few things have been helping. So as long as I keep seeing changes I will stick with it and keep shovin in the fruits and veggies. :)

I am seeing a nutritionist at the school. We are setting mini goals that will help me to get a healthier diet. I also did a test for thyroid.. I get the results either today, or tomm. Maybe that's why I cannot loose weight.

exercise 5 days a week.. walking at a 3.2+ pace for 1.5 miles 5x a week and then swimming for two hours a week.. I have been keeping a food journal and I have really only been eating 1050 cals a day.. I feel like I am pigging out when I do that too! Kari said I need more calories and I am having a hard time trying to figure out what to add.. oh and I failed at this weeks challenge! DAMN you special times of the months when I cant even think and I just go to the pantry and dig out choc from last christmas! UGH! but it tastes sooo good!! :(

I just got back from swimming with Kari. AWESOME! Im not great at it but it was fun! :) And I lifted weights and walked 2 miles on the treadmill. and 2 miles last night..

yuummm. I have been making a chicken wrap using whole wheat tortilas, little pinch of cheese, italian dressing, chicken, and tomatos. yummm!! Plus having grapes be cheap at the store, and kari introducing me to nectarines today was a good healthy day! and tonight we are having salmon. :) Good way to start the week!

Challenge.

Hello! My name is Dani, I am a super-super-senior at CSU and am graduating this May with a degree in Natural Resource Management and minors in Geology and Spatial Information Management Systems. Whew! that was a mouth full!! I will be going back to CSU right after I graduate to do my Masters with the Spatial Management. What I want to be when I grow up is someone who works with GIS stuff, and could have a job possibly indoors and outdoors. Kinda like what I do now. Me and a grad student along with CSU created a website that has all of Larimer County's trails on ONE web site!! It's still in the works until the end of October, however it's really neat right now! I dont do the website stuff, just the pictures, and behind the scenes stuff. :) My boyfriend and I have two dogs and two cats. All black and white, and I am amazed how none of them look alike!
That's enough about me!
Onto why I want to loose weight.
1. My whole life I have been known as "muscles" or "beast" because I take pride in how much I can lift and I LOVE MY ARMS!! They are the one thing I would not change about myself! However, I am in need of some weight loss, so I can get my muscles in my legs to look sexier.
2. I want to loose it for me! I am eating well and I want to see results! I dont want to be a crappy eating college student and this is my last year to change that!
3. I want to loose it to be happier. (pathetic I know, I am happy now!)
4. I would love to now have a stomach that can talk to you!! :)
5. I want to loose it for my health.
6. Last that I can think of right now, is so I can be back to "muscles" and "beast". So I can start weight lifting so that if someone falls on a hiking trail and sprains there ankle (like me) I can carry them out without a problem.

I havent blogged at all this month. I have not been exercising because it hurts my ankle.. So I am just walking all over campus as much as I can. But AVOIDING Stairs!! UGH! PAIN! So tomm I will be suprised if I have lost anything.. unfortunately.

Wew. I am done with the Forest service work, I loved it but almost struggled to keep up with eating right. So now I have a sprained ankle, as well as strained muscles in my arm. All on the same side. So now I am at a loss of what I can do for exercise because I start my final year of undergrad on monday, and I used to work out every morning. I feel like I cant lift weights yet with my arm and my ankle cant really do the elliptical. Boo.. I need to get them better so if anyone has any exercises for either an arm or an ankle PLEASE let me know!!

Menu from Camping the last two weeks, every breakfast was either bulgar with honey and Cinnamon, or else the lean crunch cereal by kashi, and when it was cereal I had only a splash of milk to cover half of the cereal. Snacks were always bananas, apples or peaches, and I had on average 3-4 fruits a day! Go me! Lunches were either left overs from the night before or some mix of all natural blue corn chips and chicken. I also bought this yogi granola, and I love it! Its all natural and has a sweet taste so I could eat it for dessert! Dinners were either chicken with rice, chicken burritos, chicken and pesto pasta (it was whole wheat pasta) but everything has been cooked in Olive oil instead of using butter. I feel like I am doing good, and enjoy the fruits, but I might need to change them up so I don't get bored of them. I am lacking on my veggies though, I like to take carrots to snack on and green beans, otherwise not a lot of other things. It's hard to camp and take a cooler when you don't expect to visit a town by the time the ice melts.. Oh well I am doing what I can.
I also want to mention that my weight went from 174 to 178 and now I am down to 173 or below. :) So now that I am starting to get things figured out I am feeling better about it!

So now I am really frustrated. All this week that I have been gone doing FS work I have only eaten great and yes Kari, I left out all the dairy and milk, like less then 1/4 cup of milk a day! And I have yet to loose weight! All I ate this week was my lean crunch, bananas, peaches, carrots, apples, chicken, brown rice, green beans with the juices dumped out and cooked in water.. ALL HEALTHY stuff! And I just cant seem to loose! :(

Food Ideas for camping!

Does anyone have any healthy Ideas for being out camping for 4 nights a week without a fridge... I need lots of ideas because I will be doing this job for a month and cannot think of a lot of things that do not need to be cooled!

Also, are there other ladies out there who have noticed they gain weight in muscle before they loose it? take about frustration! I went up in weight but Kari let me take the BMI and I went down at least 2% In body fat, so it proves that it is gaining muscle, but I dont like the numbers! They are supposed to go down!!

and kick my butt she did.. Sheez.. I did Kari's class again and I feel like jello. I hate squats but I get through them. Nice Job on making me sweat too. I feel good now that I did it again. I will for sure go next week again! *yay* and we had another person so it wasnt just me! *yay*
Off to weight loss training with Kari. Im excited. Tuesday it was pretty fun and I enjoyed all the different exercises. If you live in Fort you should definately join! :) Lets see, I have been eating well, or better then I used too, and I freaked out a little bit this morning when I found that my boyfriend had finished the milk! I seem to need milk for everything that I eat for breakfast, lean crunch, protein shake, smoothies... UGH! If anyone has any suggestions other then eggs that would be awesome!!

Im doing it. Im going to be a healthy College Student. I have taken Kari's advice and read the Clean-eat diet book. I have been starting to eat better. I am eating more often to not starve myself and have been trying to get in carbs with protein. Never thought it would be this hard and I can only hope grabbing fruits and veggies comes easier!
